Our major corporate sponsorship is based on
the following criteria:
1. To give something back to the community at large
2. To support emerging talent in the same way people have supported
us
3. To foster a partnership which has the potential to be inclusive
for all staff
4. To provide an opportunity to build the sponsorship into client
relationships
5. To build our brand through association with a cutting edge NFP
institution
Following the success of our inaugural 2004 sponsorship of The Octopus Exhibition, Proclaim continues to support Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces in 2007 and beyond by sponsoring the annual Octopus Exhibition. Founded in 1985 as a non-profit contemporary art complex of gallery spaces and studio facilities, Gertrude provides professional support to artists in the early stages of their careers through exhibition, studio and associated cultural exchange programs that address the relationship between contemporary art practices and current critical debate.
As part of our continued sponsorship we also undertake a number of contemporary art excursions for Proclaim staff members to galleries, artist run spaces, studios and projects and in 2007 we are also having a number of Gertrude artists and alumni to our office for a floor talk or Gertrude artworks in our collection.
Like Proclaim, Gertrude is a small company in a large industry succeeding in doing something a little bit different.
Proclaim is excited to be partnering one of Australia’s leading cultural facilities and hopes the creative influence will continue to drive us to more innovative solutions for our customers.
Established in 1983 as a non-profit contemporary art complex of gallery spaces and studio facilities, Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces provides professional support to contemporary artists through exhibition, studio, cultural exchange and public programs which address the relationship between contemporary art practices and current critical debate.
A society which values creativity, risk and experimentation in the
visual arts.
To professionally support contemporary artists in establishing and
developing their work
Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces’ exhibition program operates
through the organisation's three gallery spaces, as well as through
the development of off-site and special projects. Exhibitions are
developed internally and through proposals from artists, curators
and groups, and features work by emerging Australian and international
artists that demonstrate excellence, innovation and experimentation
in contemporary art practice.
Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces houses sixteen low-cost, non-residential
studios for local artists, a residential studio for visiting international
and interstate artists, and also administers the non-residential
Tower Studio at Queen’s College, University of Melbourne.
The organisation initiates cultural exchange and professional development
projects that contribute to the contemporary culture of artists,
writers and curators in Australia and internationally. Publishing,
Education and Public Programs provide opportunities for students
and members of the public to engage with our programs, in order
to make contemporary art accessible and engaging. The organization
also develops a range of programs to promote new opportunities for
contemporary artists, and for audiences to encounter their work.
Further information on Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces can be found
on the organisation’s website at www.gertrude.org.au.
Proclaim's involvement as principal sponsor supporting the Octopus exhibition and catalogue makes a major contribution to Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces’ annual program, and our role in supporting innovation, experimentation and excellence in contemporary art and curatorial practice.
